It will come as no surprise to many that there are a lot of dishonest people making vast sums of money from unsuspecting people looking for genuine gifts for their loved ones..

A superb example of this is the people selling square foot plots of land in Scotland. For £19.99 they claim you can call yourslef a 'Laird'. Under UK Law this is what is most commonly known as 'complete and utter tosh'.

They also claim to offer fishing rights to a river (the river Spean) which features a waterfall so high that it is impossible for any salmon to swim in it!

These organisations are making thousands of pounds from selling tiny plots of land in Scotland. More often than not, you might even find that you are buying the same plot of land that someone else has already bought. There isn't even an official register.

Buying a plot of land in Scotland does NOT make you a Lord. Do not be misled or fooled and do not waste your money. If you go to your Bank, Building Society, Passport Office or the DVLA with a certificate that says you own a plot of land in Scotland and then ask them to change your paperwork or ID, they WILL LAUGH AT YOU.

The ONLY way to change your Title (other than by being knighted by the Queen or being granted a Life Peerage) is to complete a Master Title Deed. You do not get a Master Title Deed when you buy a square foot of land in Scotland.
